Today, Thursday the 15th of October, 2009 at just after midday, my sister, Christine Hodge gave birth to a healthy baby boy.
Congratulations goes out to her, father Staf and his bigger brother Edward.
Name: Harry William Southwick
Date of Birth: October 15, 2009
Time of Birth: Just after midday
Birth Weight: 3.95kgs / 8.7lbs
This time tomorrow, we’ll have another child.
Kim is going into hospital tomorrow morning for an elective cesarean (c-section) operation in the afternoon.
I’m not sure who’s more nervous, last time I nearly passed out. But with the help of our Midwife Midhusband Graham, I’m hoping to stand up and watch the baby being removed from my wife’s stomach.
Just thinking about it makes me queasy.

My brother Croydon and his wife Fiona gave birth to their first baby girl last night in Nelson Hospital.
We got a txt from Croydon yesterday afternoon saying that Fiona’s water had broke the day before and that they were heading to Nelson to get induced at 4:30pm.
At 4am this morning my sister Christine gave birth to an 8lb 9oz healthy wee son.
Born in a birthing pool in their home, the little guy is doing well as are the parents and grandparents.
Within 20 minutes of having the baby it was sucking strongly on the breast.
A name has yet to be chosen.
They named him Edward Stafford Southwick.
He has a lovely head of hair and is beautiful.
The midwife Sandra, said it was a lovely birth with no complications.
Our first Hodge nephew and Joshua’s first Hodge cousin, so we are very excited for everyone.
So including Joshua, that makes 4 boys, 2 Rattray cousins and 1 Hodge cousin.
